The INCUBA project “Cross-border Agri-food Incubators” participated in the presentation of an online platform for the recording of geospatial data in the field and their storage in a spatial database which is implemented in the framework of the TAGs project – “Technological and business innovation services to stimulate local agricultural food ecosystems and to support cross-border cooperation between local action groups”, which is funded by the Interreg V/A Greece-Italy 2014-2020 Program.

The presentation, which was attended by the project manager of the Lead Beneficiary – Region of Western Greece, Mr. K. Tzamaloukas, was organized on Thursday, June 18, 2020 by the Region of Western Greece in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture of the University of Patras. During the presentation were discussed also the possibilities of using these online tools by companies, organizations and producer groups.

“The implementation and promotion of innovative precision farming activities to improve the competitiveness of local agricultural food ecosystems creates new perspectives and opportunities in the agri-food sector. Through the implementation of such projects and the operation of structures such as the Agri-Food Partnership, RWG applies a specific policy which aims to support, develop and increase the competitiveness of the agri-food sector in our region. In fact, both with TAGs project and with specific actions of INCUBA and BALKANET projects, the Region has set as its goal the support of the Agri-Food Partnership. Within this framework, a series of events and other actions are planned in the near future”, stressed the Deputy Governor for Agricultural Development Th. Vassilopoulos.

The meeting was coordinated by the project manager Eleni Kakaridi, agronomist of the Region of Western Greece and the Assistant Professor Pantelis Barouchas, project manager on behalf of the University of Patras and scientific director of the RWG Soil Laboratory.

After the presentation, a discussion was conducted on the synergies and possibilities for the use of such tools. At the discussion the participants were Mr. Thanassis Petropoulos, President of GEOTEE Peloponnese and West- Central Greece, Mr. Vassilis Michalopoulos, Head of the Agricultural Economy Department of RWG, as well as the representatives of transnational projects in the field of agri-food and innovation: Ms. A. Liopa-Tsakalidi – AREThOU5A project, Mr. G. Keramidas – Smart4all project, Ms. P. Baltzoi – IR2MA project, Ms. A. Kavga – iNGREEN project.  Moreover, present at the meeting were the General Director of the Directorate of Agricultural Economy & Veterinary of RWG Mr. S.Verras and the agronomist Mr. K. Papagiannopoulos, representative of the Agricultural cooperative associations of Fruits & Vegetables-Cereals-Olive Oil of Amaliada.
